Kids Doing Chores

With four children, I really want to teach them how to help around the house and learn how to do things for themselves.  This is not always easy but it is something that needs to be done.

I try to start when they are little because that is when they love helping and being praised for doing it.

People often ask me about this and right now I give the kids little jobs to help but nothing too big right now.  I have them clean up their rooms, toys, make their own bed (not daily though- we need to get better with this), help with the dishes, they can sweep, vacuum and occasionally put some laundry away.  I am pretty relaxed about this because when I got pregnant with Andrew, I hired a cleaning service for the deep cleaning but I still want to teach the kids to be responsible for their own things.

The ages of my kids are 7, 5, 3, and almost 4 months.

Today, I want to share a little video with you showing an example of how I do this.

Here is Matthew (age 3) helping with the dishwasher.  He loves his chores and really feels like he is helping.
(I did have to "help" a little in the video but I thought he was going to break the door.  He didn't like being "helped")

As you can see in the video, we use Shaklee's Dish Detergent and LOVE it!!  You saw that we only use a little bit.  I never pre-rinse anything and they are always clean.  Plus, because it is non-toxic, the kids can actually help me by putting it in the dishwasher and it won't leave any nasty chemical residue on our dishes.

You might of also seen our oven grates in the dishwasher.  I throw those in the dishwasher about once a week and that seems to works great!

What chores do you give your kids?

How do they respond?

Do you have a rewards chart or incentive?

Happy cleaning!

Bonnie :)

From Size 10 to 2 {Cinch Transformation Story}

I am so excited to share this amazing story with you!! :)

I want to share how Laura went from a size 10 to 2!!!  I first met her at the 2011 New Director's Conference and then again in Vegas last month.

Here is a picture of us.

She has an amazing inch loss story that I think will help so many people!

Laura Evans Size 10 to 2

Here is her story:

If I can do it, you can do it! For years I have been spending time taking care of everyone else in my life – my children, my husband, my family, my friends, my job, my staff, my boss and my customers. So it is no wonder that as my family grew and my responsibilities grew... so did I. Sure I had all the excuses and reasons why. But after watching my parents struggle thru cardiovascular disease and open heart surgery, I knew this was not how I wanted to age gracefully and not what I wanted my kids to experience. So I took another look at the Body Mass Index chart and realized I was not at a healthy weight according to the medical data. That’s when I knew I needed to make a change. I chose Cinch from Shaklee. I was tired of “yo-yo dieting;” I have lost and gained hundreds of pounds many times over. I wanted to lose the weight and stop the yo-yo. I knew the preliminary clinical study with real people conducted with Shaklee Cinch resulted primarily in fat loss, not muscle loss. I knew muscle helps metabolism. I set my goal low: to lose 15 lbs in 90 days just like the clinical study participants had achieved. To my surprise, not only did I lose the weight, I started to change my body shape! I went from “mom look” to athletic. Something I have never been in my life! Cinch changed my life for the better, for good!

Isn't she amazing?!?!  You can learn more about her story here.

You can order your Cinch Transformation Kit here.

Have a great day,

Bonnie

Strawberry Protein Oatmeal

I know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and I also know that eating protein is essential for our brain, especially for kids that will be in school learning all day.

So I like it make strawberry oatmeal with protein.

I just make oatmeal and add strawberry Cinch Protein at the end!

That's it!!

I love it and it tastes great although sometimes I add a little stevia because I like my oatmeal really sweet.

Do you try to eat protein with every meal?

How do you make your oatmeal?

Have a great day!

Bonnie ;)

My Energy Secret {Cinch Energy Tea}

Hello!! :)  How are you?  Today, I want to answer a question that I get a lot.  People often ask me how I have energy.  They ask me how I have energy for 4 kids, a husband, a business, a blog, a home, meals, laundry, etc.

I have a secret,  it's my energy tea!

I swear by it!!

I drink one or two of these a day!

This is what it looks like.  I love the Pomegranate and I really like the Green Tea.

It comes in a stick which is nice because I keep them in my purse.  My husband also brings them to work.

All I do is mix it with water!!  I also like to add some stevia and ice to it.  You can drink it hot too but I love it cold.

Yup, I seriously LOVE this!!! :)  I don't drink coffee anymore.  I have been drinking this tea everyday for a year now!  It is seriously my favorite.  Everyone who tries this tea goes nuts over it! It is amazing.  It makes me feel good and alert without any jitters.

So, this is my secret!!

What do you do for energy?

WHY WASHING YOUR FACE IS SO IMPORTANT

We all know that a skin care regimen starts with a good cleanser, but, have you ever wondered why it’s so important?  Let’s explore the reasons behind why we need to make sure our skin is
cleaned properly, no matter what skin type.

Why Is It Important To Use A Cleanser?

Even if you don’t wear makeup, it’s very important to wash your face with a cleanser.  “It’s not just makeup you want to wash off”, says Dr. Charles Zugerman, Associate Clinical Professor of Dermatology at Northwestern University.  Facial cleansers remove makeup, pollutants, bacteria and unwanted debris off of our face.

In addition, it’s important to recognize that properly cleansing the skin prepares your skin to absorb products you may put on after, like a serum or moisturizer.  Clearing out your pores allows the moisturizer to penetrate into your skin for maximum effectiveness.  What’s the point of applying moisturizers and treatments if your skin isn’t able to absorb them fully?

How To Choose A Cleanser That’s Right For Your Skin Type

When choosing a cleanser, April W. Armstrong, MD, Assistant Professor of Dermatology at the University of California Davis recommends on WebMD to “Always use a gentle cleanser, since harsh soaps can trigger the skin to increase oil production.”  I completely agree, and even though it may be tempting to get that squeaky clean feel, it may strip your skin of the good oils — making your skin react by producing even more oil!

Additional Tips:

- A regular facial cleanser can’t properly break down and remove waterproof makeup, so be sure to use a separate makeup remover if you use waterproof makeup

- Want to add an additional ‘rinse’ cycle?  Use a toner to remove any debris or makeup that a cleanser may have left behind!  You’ll be surprised to see what a little toner and a cotton pad will remove even AFTER you’ve cleansed your face, especially if you wear makeup

- After a thorough cleansing, be sure to follow up with a moisturizer that best fits your skin type and concerns.  Even if you have oily skin, don’t skip this step!  Oily does not mean your skin is moisturized or hydrated. According to Rebecca Kazin, MD, Assistant Professor of Dermatology at Johns Hopkins Medical Institute and Director of Johns Hopkins Cosmetic Center (WebMD), “Even oily skin needs to be moisturized to look its best.”
I often get asked what kind of skin care line I use and I am sure that you won't be surprise when I tell you that Shaklee has a line for that and I and LOVE it!  Yup, it's called Enfuselle (like to infuse the cell)!  I have been exclusively using it for 9 years.  I got my hubby started several years ago too and he is hooked too, lol!  I go back and forth between and dry and oily kits because I love them both and my skin likes to change with my pregnancies.  My favorite product is the night cream because it makes my face feel like silk and I also really like the morning cream because my make-up blends nicely with it and it has spf 15 in it.

Homemade Popsicles {Performance Pops}

Wow!  It has been HOT around here!!  I like warm temps but this is not for me and the baby! The kids have been able to enjoy the heat a little but I worry about them overheating.

So, I found a neat way to keep the kids hydrated and keep having fun at the same time!

We make "Performance Pops"!!

Basically, we make our own popsicles using a natural sports drink.

They kids go nuts for this stuff and I don't have to worry about the sugar in popsicles and this stuff keeps them hydrated better than water alone.

(The Olympic Athletes even use this!)

We just start with empty popsicle containers and a container of Performance.  (We have orange flavor today but we like Lemon Lime too!)

Then we make add the Performance powder to water.

(I added extra powder here because it tastes so good!)

Then, I add the drink to the container and put them in the freezer!

It's so easy and the kids love helping me make them.

They keep checking to see if they are ready yet, lol!

Then they get to enjoy and natural, hydrating popsicle that they made them self!!

It's a WIN-WIN!!  Everyone is happy!!

The kids love the taste and I love that it keeps them hydrated with all the bad stuff! :)

What ways are you staying hydrated this summer?

Enjoy the heat!

Have a great day!
