~* Powder Room Redecorating *~

I've been doing some redorating. The top of my yellow cupboard was a little boring so I decided to do something about it. I found the little artificial plant at Goodwill for .69 cents. (In person it almost looks real!) I love words so I couldn't pass up dream that I found at a local country decorating store.
I also added a few items to this cupboard in the powder room.
I found this great little pitcher at Goodwill yesterday for .99 cents. I thought it was so adorable. Would you believe that when I got the bag out of the vehicle I dropped it and it broke. I was able to salvage it and get it glued back together. However, there are two small holes on the other side of the pitcher that couldn't be fixed. I didn't have the heart to throw it away (I'm only showing you the good side). Unless it's picked up you wouldn't know it was broken.

This is a picture of my dear Mom when she was a little girl. I found this frame at a thrift store almost a year ago and didn't know what to put it in. I have another frame exactly like this one. I'm going to put a picture of my dear Dad in it from when he was a little boy. The old books were yard sale finds.

~* My Chalkboard *~

Heidi wanted to know what I was going to use my chalkboard for...at the suggestion of my dd, we are going to put quotes on it.
The quote I have on it right now was found in one of my Gooseberry Patch books. It says:
Give us Lord,
a bit o' sun
a bit o' work
and a bit o' fun.
Give us all,
in the struggle and sputter,
our daily bread and a bit o' butter.

It has been fun looking for quotes to put on the chalkboard. If I really like the quote I'm going to leave it up for at least a week.

I hope you're not getting tired of me saying thank you for visiting me, but I really do appreciate it. I've been trying to catch up with all of you on your blogs. For some reason when I visit Robin at Bittersweet Pumpkin I cannot leave a comment on her blog. It comes up with a message that Internet Explorer cannot display the page. Robin, if you're reading this I just wanted to let you know that I haven't forgotten about you. I was going to contact you by e-mail but couldn't find an e-mail address. I just wanted to let you know that I'm praying for you and your family. I also appreciate the concern you showed to me when I was under the weather.

Also, to Jenny, you wanted a plan of our farmhouse. Could you please contact me by e-mail? Thanks!

~* Corner of My Home *~

Edited: Second Picture added to this post on Monday, October 1st.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
It is Sunday evening and I am finally feeling 100% better....Again, I can't thank you enough for your get well wishes and prayers! It's good to be back posting again.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
I thought I'd give you a little glimpse into our main bathroom. I just love signs and letters...when I came across these letters in a clearance pile at Target I knew what I wanted to do with them. I found them for less than $1.50 each. I'm not sure if I'm going to paint them or not. (My dh pointed out to me that they're not all pure white.) This is all of the decorating that I have done so far in this bathroom and it was remodeled almost a year ago. Once I get the cabinet painted and hung I'll be sure and post a picture of that.

I decided to add this second picture give you a little better view. This sink was put in the farmhouse when it was remodeled in the early 60's. DH and I decided that we still really liked it. The only thing we changed were the fixtures.

I was tagged by Oak Wind Farm and Daffodil Hill to list Seven Random Things about myself....thank you for thinking of me ladies! I have participated in this previously so here is the link to read them: Seven Random Things
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
I was also tagged by Marie of A Little Bit of Country on the Shore to do a middle name meme, but I'm still working on it! Now that I'm feeling better I can hopefully get this completed.

Dear Friends, My heart is deeply touched by all of your concern, your well wishes and your prayers. I'm not sure what type of bug I had/have but it was/is a tough little bugger! As of Thursday, September 27th, I'm starting to feel a little bit better, but not quite 100% yet.

~* Yard Sale Treasures *~

I had a good treasure hunt this past Saturday...I found this mirror for $5.00. On the back it says it was manufatured by Pittsburgh Plate Glass, October 1941. I fell in love with it when I first saw it. I wasn't exactly sure where I could hang it, but I decided to get it anyways. After I got it home I decided to hang it at the top of the stairs. I also found this great little table for $3.00. I almost forgot to take a "before" picture of it so as you can see it was yellow and I decided to paint it pale green. I've been wanting a small table in the master bedroom to use as a coffee table. My husband thought I should have left it there since it does have a crooked leg, but I think it gives it character. The sweet older couple that I bought the mirror and table from told me they were downsizing. They had lived in a farmhouse but were moving to something smaller.
I bought this picture frame at a yard sale back in May for .50 cents. The first time I saw it I knew I wanted it for my chalkboard. I found chalkboard paint, but never found the type of board that would be lightweight...I was about to give up hope when dh, dd and I found a chalkboard at Staples that would fit inside it. My dh just hung it up in our kitchen, but now I don't have any chalk!
I also bought these lidded glass jars on Saturday. The larger jar was .75 cents...the smaller one was .25 cents. I had gone to another yard sale and found these great old wooden thread spools. They were .10 cents each. The buttons belonged to my dear Gram.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Julie, now I'm sorry that I didn't buy the rest of the spools...I could have sent them to you! I'll keep an eye out for them again.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Terri and Bob...thank you...I really do try to respond to questions because I want everyone to know that I read what they have to say.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Abbie, thank you, too! I honestly can say that I am no authority on painting furniture. My method is to clean the piece of furniture with Murphy's Oil soap, let it dry and just start painting. I know that one should scrape the loose paint if there is any, but I never bother...I say the shabbier the better! If any one knows of the proper way to paint furniture could you please let me know so I can post a link? Thanks!
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Shirlee, I can honestly say that I have better luck at thrift stores than at yard sales. I always get something from a thrift store, but yard sales really are hit or miss.

Thank you all for your kind comments regarding my recent yard sale/thrifting finds. I really appreciate them!
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Julie and Manuela wanted to know where I find my treasures, well, I mostly find them at thrift stores. We have a great Salvation Army in my area that has very reasonable prices. I also have been fortunate to go to some yard sales this year that had some great items.
Becky wanted to know if the picture of the cabinet is the one I talked about previously. Yes, it is. I was so happy when I found it because it's exactly the size I needed. I still haven't gotten it painted yet because I was busy with another painting project.
Abbie, if I ever decided to get rid of the cabinet, you'll be the first to know! I can't wait to see what you're going to post about on your blog. I love seeing what others find!
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
My dear friend June and I went to several yard sales last Saturday. I came away with a small table (that's what I was busy painting), a mirror, two small glass lided jars, and wooden thread spools. I'm hoping to post some pictures within the next several days.
My dh also managed to get my chalkboard finished...now it has to be hung in the kitchen...can't wait to show you the results!
Much love to you all, Kim

~*Some New Goodies*~

I'd like to share some of my recent finds with you...I was fortunate enough to find this great 1936 My Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook for a $1! It still had a few handwritten recipe cards inside. I knew I had to bring it home with me.
The cabinet will be going into our 2nd floor bathroom. I'm going to paint it white. I found it for $4.00. I just love this glass jar...I'm going to fill it pine cones or who knows what else!
I haven't decided where I'm going to put the two candle holders, but I do know I'm going to paint them black...they were .99 cents for the set. The old grater will be turned upside down to hold flowers, etc. in my kitchen. Not sure what I'll do with the little glass jar, but it was .49 cents so I couldn't pass it up. Can't wait to sit down and look at the Laura Ashley Style book. I'm not sure what I'll do with the wallpaper...maybe I'll use it to wrap a gift or line a cupboard...maybe there's enough to do both!
I got this shadow box for .25 cents, but I'm going to paint it and use it for another project that has been on my mind. This milk glass dish will be used in the 2nd floor bathroom, also. It has taken me sooooooo long to even decide how I want to decorate this bathroom. It will soon be a year since it was remodeled.

Thanks for taking a look at my finds...have a great weekend. I have plans to go to a few sales this weekend...can't wait to see what treasures are out there!
Thanks again for always taking the time to stop by and for your nice comments...I do appreciate them.
Much love to you all, Kim
