~♥ Things That Make Me Smile ♥~

Hello blogging friends...I thought I'd take the time to share some of the things that make me smile.  I L♥VE cookbooks...always have and always will.  I've posted several pictures of my newest cookbooks...the illustrations are darling and the recipes seem easy enough to do!
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
The first three cookbooks are written by Roxie Kelley and Friends; Illustrations by Shelly Reeves Smith.  I just can't stop looking at these books...their style is similar to Susan Branch books (which I adore, too).  I purchased my books at Amazon.com.
Aren't these illustrations darling?

I was lucky enough to find this Susan Branch cookbook at TJ Maxx.  It was the only one...it was hidden behind a bunch of other books...waiting just for little ol' me.
Aren't these napkins as cute as a button?  I'm in love with the color red and just knew that I had to bring them home as well.
And finally, this Hallmark ornament from 2009 really makes me smile...I just love the detail...wish I had a better camera to show you...there's even writing on the back of the recipe card!

Question and Answer Time:
Susan wanted to know where my dear Husband keeps things from his pockets...well, Susan, I have a small holder by his side of the bed.  We also designated one drawer in his dresser for things that he can't fit on the night stand so at least it's out of sight.
Lisa wanted to know about my bedding...let's see if I can remember:  The yellow coverlet came from TJ Maxx. The red toile pillow and comforter at the end of the bed was something I got at Kmart a LONG time ago. It's actually a twin set. It was Martha Stewart and was dirt cheap on clearance. Now the yellow quilt and shams I ordered on line, but for the life of me I cannot remember where. I actually had seen an insert in the Sunday paper several years ago and that's how I found out about the place...wish I could remember the name of it. The small green pillow was from Dollar General several years ago as well...I just added the doilie.  The red bedskirt is from Kmart's Country Living Collection...the white bedskirt was given to me by a friend.
Well, dear blogging friends...it's time for me to go for now...thank you for stopping by for a visit...I really appreciate it.

ROBOTIC JELLYFISH

I discovered these hypnotic robotic jellyfish on a German website, Festo. I can't read German. Is it art? Technology? I love fusions.

Google Translator, that cryptic oracle, says:

"Project name is an artificial autonomous jellyfish in the water, which has self-governing system as a distinct swarm behavior. Project name consists of a translucent hemisphere and eight tentacles that serve the propulsion. In the center of AquaJelly is a watertight, pressure laser sintered body. This includes inside a central, electric drive, two lithium-ion polymer batteries, the charge control and the servo motors for the swashplate."

~♥ Just To Let You Know...♥~

I'm working on a new post...see you soon!

ATMEN

Now in German!
Colette's latest inspiration.
(Latin: in + spirare = to breathe)
Available at Etsy. Only $9.

RANDOM EXCERPT FROM "DEEP BLUE HOME:" SEX IN THE ABYSS

Sex is different in the dark. The really, really dark of the abyss. For instance, it's difficult to find another of your own kind. Some species get around the challenge by never letting go of their partner.

The excerpt:

"Odd gelatinous anglerfishes approach, the females casting fishing tackle attached to their foreheads, complete with rods, lines, luminescent lures, and sometimes hooks. Their male partners accompany them in the form of tiny parasitical appendages attached by their jaws to the females’ skins, where they subsist on embryoniclike connections to her blood supply. Thus conjoined, the males atrophy to nothing more than their gonads, awaiting the moment to spawn."

The Existence of a World Previous to Ours

GREEN PORNO ANGLERFISH

Imagine my delight at finding another fantastically bizarre and accurate sci-porn video starring the unabashed Isabella Rossellini. It's about the mating habits of anglerfish!

BREATHE

My friend Colette at Raw Art Letterpress just finished Breathe. I'm honored that her inspiration for this print was my new blog and new book.

Breathe is one of many striking word prints Colette sells on Etsy. Her process is unique:

"i developed a quirky letterpress process that i call 'raw art letterpress' this print is made from a hand-cut plate, the letters are cut individually and the print is quite literally pressed by hand - this adds up to a few quirks: sometimes the plates are not perfectly square, the borders are (meant to be) rough, the ink coverage is different for every print."

The inky area of this print is 4.25 x 6.25 inches on 5 x 7-inch paper. It's an unframed, signed, limited-edition print. Costs only $9. I'm ordering one now.
